چکیده

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present and validate an originally developed application SkinCare used for skin dose mapping in interventional procedures, which are associated with relatively high radiation doses the patient’s possible reactions. Methods tool generating maps following radiology cardiology procedures using realistic 3D patient models. Skin calculated data from Digital Imaging Communications Medicine (DICOM) Radiation Dose Structured Reports (RDSRs). validation was performed by Siemens Artis Zee Biplane fluoroscopy system conducting “Acceptance quality control protocols calculating software solutions cardiology” tested frame VERIDIC project. XR-RV3 Gafchromic films were as dosimeters compare peak (PSDs) obtained through measurements calculations. DICOM RDSRs four systems different vendors (Canon, GE, Philips, Siemens) development comparison generated commercial tools (Dose Tracking System (DTS) Canon, RadimetricsTM Bayer RDM MEDSQUARE). same during a clinical procedure (percutaneous coronary intervention—PCI) comparison. Results Validation VERIDIC's calculation showed that PSD within 17% 16% accuracy compared fundamental irradiation setups simplified respectively. Good visual agreement between DTS, obtained. Conclusions proved be very convenient solution can monitoring delivered procedures.

Evaluation of Maximum Patient Skin Dose Arising from Interventional Cardiology Using Thermoluminescence Dosimeter in Mashhad, Iran

Introduction The increasing practice of interventional fluoroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease has risen attention to improve radiation protection of patients and cardiologists in these relatively high dose techniques. Therefore, nowadays there is an emphasis on the measurement of radiation dose received by patients and cardiologists arising from the relevant procedures...

Occupational Eye Lens Dose in Interventional Radiology and Cardiology: New Insights

The advances in digital imaging and the improvement in interventional tools and devices like catheters and stents have expanded the use of interventional procedures. During the period 1998-2008, the total number of interventional procedures increased by 78% [1]. Interventional radiology [IR] and cardiology [IC] procedures deliver high radiation doses both to patients and medical personnel, whic...

The interventionalism of medicine: interventional radiology, cardiology, and neuroradiology

Interventional medical practitioners are specialists who do minimally invasive procedures instead of surgery or other treatment. Most often, these procedures utilize various imaging and catheterization techniques in order to diagnose and treat vascular issues in the body. Interventionalist techniques, including injecting arteries with dye, visualizing these via x-ray, and opening up blockages, ...

Skin dose measurement for patients using imaging plates in interventional radiology procedures.

A method using europium-doped BaFBr imaging plates (IPs) has been developed to estimate and map values of entrance skin doses during interventional radiology (IR). IPs offer many advantages for measuring the entrance skin dose because they have a wide dynamic range (up to 100 Gy), provide high spatial resolution as a detector of two-dimensional images, and can be used repeatedly. The entrance s...

Radiation dose and image quality for paediatric interventional cardiology.

Radiation dose and image quality for paediatric protocols in a biplane x-ray system used for interventional cardiology have been evaluated. Entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) and image quality using a test object and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) phantoms have been measured for the typical paediatric patient thicknesses (4-20 cm of PMMA). Images from fluoroscopy (low, medium and high) and cine ...
